I know his hooves 'look funny'. I spent quite a bit of time on them and finally backed away from trying to make the hooves blend better The horse is also out of scale with the rest of the picture, I'm aware of these two annoying 'off' qualities of the picture, although constructive criticism is also welcomed!

Sad but elegant... I faved this... it looks great, and I appreciate your detailed explanation of why you did this picture... one little thing though: I think the ground and the horse's hoofs need to connect better, because the horse kind of looks like he's hovering a few inches off the ground... adding some hoof prints may help!
